AJ Speech Services is a speech communication company specializing in Accent Reduction Training, Dialect Acquisition, Executive Business Voice Training and Speech and Voice Improvement.
Our programs are customized to meet your individual needs and are conducted in our New York City offices or via online video conferencing using Skype.
All sessions will be conducted by a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist. In addition to state licensing your therapist will also be certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
ASHA certification requires a Masters degree and 30 hours in continuing education within each three year period.
AnnJoan Hyman is the founder and director of AJ Speech Services. For 26 years she had worked at the Sam Chwat Speech Center where she had the opportunity to train and work closely with Sam Chwat. As senior consultant to Mr. Chwat she worked with thousands of clients in all areas including the acting profession, radio, academia, finance and law.
Mr. Chwat was known as the speech therapist to the stars and has worked with numerous celebrities including Robert DeNiro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart.
Ms. Hyman established AJ Speech Services following the closing of the Sam Chwat Speech Center.
She will continue to follow the methods and techniques that she has learned in her work of the past 30 years.

Ann Joan Hyman M.A., CCC-SLP is the force behind the speech of countless actors, corporate executives, and public speakers around the world. Her work can be heard on television (The Blacklist, Arrow, Madame Secretary, The Good Wife, House of Cards, and Mozart In The Jungle, Elementary, The Americans, Saturday Night Live), on stage (The Book of Mormon and Significant Other), and film (Jack of the Red Hearts, James Bond: Quantum of Solace, The Invisible Guardian, and the Tim Burton film, Dark Shadows).
In addition, Ms. Hyman has changed the speech for corporate executives and employees of many top companies and Am Law 100 global law firms including, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, JP Morgan, Mercedes Benz, Capital One, among many others.
AnnJoan Hyman is a licensed speech pathologist in practice for more than 30 years. She holds a master’s degree in speech pathology from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
AnnJoan is licensed in New York and New Jersey and holds a national certification from The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Ms. Hyman’s expertise in accent modification comes from her own extensive studies as well as 25 years as senior consultant for the former Sam Chwat Speech Center/New York Speech Improvement Services. Together this combination has made her an expert in this demanding field. In addition to accent modification, Ms. Hyman also excels in public speaking and presentation skills necessary for the acting and business professions. As a licensed speech pathologist, Ms. Hyman treats all areas of voice and speech improvement.
